Mental health problems affect about 1 in 10 children and young people. They include depression, anxiety and conduct disorder, and are often a direct response to what is happening in their lives.

We recognise that wellbeing is all about our holistic health, including the physical and emotional. When we have good levels of wellbeing, we feel that life is in balance and that we can generally cope well. We feel motivated and engaged, we are resilient and able to deal effectively with daily troubles, as well as ‘bounce back’ from life’s challenges.

At Harrington Hill we try to embed the 5 Ways to Wellbeing in our daily lives.
There are lots of ways we focus on wellbeing at Harrington Hill, below are some examples:
Wellbeing environment – every class has a worry box and a feelings flower
Daily mindfulness activities – each class runs a short mindfulness activity every day, this could be doing peer massage, meditating or sharing compliment.
Wellbeing week– twice a year we have a wellbeing week for staff and children
Sensroy room – we have a sensory room in school which children use to improve their wellbeing
Wellbeing newsletter – we have a half termly wellbeing newsletter that goes out to the children and parents / carers
