At Harrington Hill Primary School, we believe humanities should:

Our Vision

At Harrington Hill, our vision is to provide a humanities curriculum which inspires and encourages all children to be inquisitive about the world around them and of the past, so that they have a deeper understanding of the world we live in. At Harrington Hill, we teach both history and geography cohesively and we believe this is best achieved through engaging, practical experiences that encourage enquiry and questioning. We aim to develop and teach the children how to think like a Historian and a Geographer, enabling them to develop a range of skills that are useful across their learning.

In every humanities lesson we aim to develop our five learning behaviours:

• Active listening
• Independence
• Team work
• Resilience
• Good talk (use of subject specific vocabulary and investigative questioning)

Eco warriors

Our amazing Eco warriors are in charge of promoting and maintaining our environmental ethos.  They will be taking care of the recycling bins whilst also thinking of ways to ensure that the school is as eco-friendly as possible.  Our Eco warriors will be keeping the rest of the school up to date with any humanities related changes at Harrington Hill and will be charged with the task of planning exciting assemblies linked to history and geography.
